The newest device from Landscape, the HC-TT or Human Control Tape Transport, is a manual cassette tape manipulator. This cassette player has two large playback knobs, which when rotated, directly control the playback speed of the tape inserted, creating a one-to-one response between the user and the playback head. The forward and reverse playback knobs can be used in tandem to emulate record scratches; as well, the HC-TT comes with additional control features to tweak your tape manipulations including a momentary mute, momentary feedback, lo-fi tone control knob, and also allows for audio input and CV/GATE output. And to even further expand its sonic possibilities, the HC-TT works well with a host of other devices like samplers, loopers, effects pedals, and so on. The simplicity of this device is perfect for anyone interested in trying tape based music making, and because of its transparency and immediacy of control, the HC-TT has great potential in a performance setting.
